412 was birthed in late 2007 with the aim to create a brand that celebrated Pittsburgh’s emerging generation of cultural creators and professional athletes—all inspired by the ’Burgh’s proud blue-collar heritage. Pittsburgh native brothers and cofounders, Christian and Aaron Kinkela, thought that the best way to represent their hometown was to create a logo and brand steeped in the insight that “In Pittsburgh, Hometown is Hero.”
Since 2007, 412 has produced product collaborations and projects with athletes, artists, creators, brands and organizations including Kris Letang, Ike Taylor, Lupe Fiasco, 13thWitness, Meghan Klingenberg, Heinz and New Era. 412 has worked with the Pittsburgh Pirates and Pittsburgh Penguins and expanded its licensed work through officially licensed collaborations with the Arnold Palmer and Roberto Clemente brands. Additional partnerships have included the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy, Pittsburgh Firefighters Local No. 1 and others, with an upcoming collaboration with L.A.B. Golf.
Nearly two decades after its founding, 412 continues to create products, collaborations and partnerships rooted in Pittsburgh while expanding the brand far beyond the city.
